Modulair
As the very first modular saddle with unique features, WOW ™ has by far the best experience in this field.
The seat, panels, head plate and flaps of the saddle are available separately, so that you can easily change the different parts. Combined, they make a saddle that makes the performance of horse and rider unbeatable!
Tree of carbon
WOW ™ has a unique patented tree that is “Y” shaped and made of carbon fibers.
It is this “Y Bar” that gives the tree its strength and longitudinal rigidity. The fact that the force is centered allows the seats to be so incredibly narrow, which allows for tremendously good leg contact and stability for the rider.
Two longitudinal curves of the “Y” Bars are available to stay as close to the shape of the horse’s back as possible; a flatter “Y” Bar for horses with a flat back and a curved “Y” Bar for a horse with a normal or deep back.
Lateral flexibility
What does a horse ask of a tree? The answer was to find a way where the rider’s weight would be distributed symmetrically and evenly between the 7th and 18th ribs.
This meant that there should be no flexibility in the forward-backward direction. Still, the horse needs the space where the shoulder rotates under the saddle tree.
The solution was to allow the front of the saddle tree to move freely from left to right. In this way, the left and then the right shoulder can move backwards under the saddle. WOW has achieved this and calls it “Lateral Flexion ™”.
Changeable head plates
WOW’s Flexi-Head ™ (the flexible front) gives a wide choice of tree sizes.
The head plate can be changed incredibly easily, because the flexible front forms easily around the head plate.
The narrowest head plate of 73° fits the narrowest thoroughbred. This is narrower than most saddlers offer. The widest head plate is 143°, comparable to an 8X head plate!
We offer 11 different head plate sizes available in 7° increments.
Panels without points
The patented Pointless Panel System™ or PPS.
With a traditional saddle tree the ends on the right and left (in red) end about 18 to 19 cm below the head of the saddle. WOW has no point effect due to the shape of the panels.
The front part of the saddle tree has some sort of wings with built-in double stirrup suspension. These wings are extended (in yellow) to provide an enormous surface (about 30cm) to support the ribs. The surface is therefore larger than that of a Western saddle.
This enlarged surface reduces the pressure on the shoulders and, together with the “lateral flexion” system, promotes a better movement of the horse.
Small seat for better contact
The WOW ™ saddle has a unique seat that is designed to make the best use of the shape of our legs.
Most saddles don’t give us a grip, as there is a tight smooth line between the seat and the flaps. The WOW ™ has created a clear step between the seat and the flap with a hollow that allows the leg to fit perfectly on both sides.
This gives more stability to the seat and safety as the leg has something to sit around, instead of on top. Sitting on horses that have a huge movement is much easier in this way. Jumping becomes safer this way.
There are no seams in the soft seat; this means less wear on the seat and on you.
Changeable panels
WOW ™ has 15 standard panels, which fit most horse backs and types. If it still doesn’t fit, 180 more variations and modifications are possible if necessary.
For horses with a very short back, a smaller panel can be combined with a larger seat. One measure difference can be realized here. Eg. 17 “panels under an 18” seat.
If we take all parts of the saddle together, 420 different combinations for adaptation to the horse are possible as standard! And that at one seat!
Flair; filling with air
Yes the panels are filled with air! And yes, by means of saddle pressure measurements it has been proven that this is the best comfort one can offer a horse!
Flair is a system consisting of four air chambers that provides a soft, flexible and even surface without pressure points for the horse.
The Flair Air system is built into the panels, which makes it possible for the panels to move around the muscles of the moving horse and give space to these movements. The air is adjustable and thus contributes to a balanced saddle on a moving horse.
Unlike saddles which are filled with wool, all adjustments are made quickly while the rider is in the saddle. You and your saddle fitter can perfectly adjust and balance the saddle fore/ backwards and right/ leftwards. Even when the horse has uneven muscling. Once adjusted, the Flair air chambers have no further setting, only when the nutritional status or training condition changes. But even then the change is easy to do.
Position off the flaps
The flaps can be rotated 3cm forward and backward for and by the rider by means of two bolts. Depends on the ratio between the length of the rider’s upper and lower leg and the shape of the horse’s chest.
This size of 3 cm is an important size because the difference between a dressage and jumping saddle is only 5 cm.
Double stirrup suspension
All WOW seats are supplied with a unique and protected stirrup suspension system. This allows two positions that allow the rider to change the position of the leg.
The change can be used for dressage or jumping, but the ratio between the length of the lower and upper leg of the rider can also be decisive.
Girth system
Each horse has an individual girth trough (the place where the girth will be placed). This place can move due to a varying condition and influence the saddle position. WOW’s unique girth system makes it possible to adjust the different positions.
A. Sliding double-V for a normal girth position.
B. The front and rear V’s pull the saddle down evenly. The front V is ignored by the built-in, easy to attach pointstrap (front girth). This brings the attachment point to the saddle forward, so that the girth is still in the girth channel with a horse that has it far forward.
C. A point strap combined with a ‘balance strap’ distributes the maximum pressure over the entire saddle. In combination with an H-girth, the saddle can be maximally stable with a girth gutter lying forward.
D. An extra forward front girth, with balance strap and an H-girth ensure that in a horse, where the girth channel is far forward and where the saddle always wants to slide on the shoulder blades, still remains in place.
